A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Amy Klaffka Faruque

Amy Klaffka Faruque is a dedicated and compassionate individual who has a long history of serving others. From a young age, she was a dedicated Girl Scout, where she not only sold cookies, but also worked to make positive changes in her local community. As she grew older, she continued to pursue opportunities to help others, becoming a lifeguard, swim instructor, and camp counselor. In college, she became even more involved in community service, volunteering for the Best Buddies Foundation, which pairs college students with adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). She also served as the Philanthropist for her sorority Alpha Xi Delta, where she helped raise funds for the Make a Wish foundation, a cause she still supports today.

After graduating from Syracuse University with a BA in Psychology, Amy knew that she wanted to make a difference in the lives of others. She began working as a treatment counselor at a residential treatment center for adolescent girls, which further solidified her desire to help others. This led her to pursue a Master’s degree in Elementary Education, becoming a teacher, and a yoga instructor.

IN THE WORKS

Progress, Not Perfection

Writing has always been an important part of Amy’s life, a passion she inherited from her mother Elizabeth. She has written short stories, poems and novels, and continues to find inspiration in the written word.

As she and her family of four moved to a magical place in Washington state, she knew all the pieces of the puzzle would fall into place. With her husband, two children, two dogs, one cat, a fish tank and twenty chickens, she feels her life is complete. This inspiring place has given her the opportunity to continue to make a difference in the lives of others and to continue to follow her passion.

As the famous quote by Tennessee Williams goes, “Time doesn’t take away from friendship, nor does separation.” This sums up Amy’s approach to life, as she has always been committed to helping others, and will continue to do so throughout her life, no matter where her journey takes her.
